Blog 3, On our way to San Diego, 28th May 2022

Leaving Yuma we drove through sandy dunes for a while which seems used for wind and solar energy.

Then over the Jacumba mountains climbing 4175 feet in height.  A big climb for our Tiffin but she handles it really well.  Stuart has been driving the coach very well and it takes skill to drive a big coach down a long 6% gradient range on the other side.  Accidents do happen with this extreme terrain!

Once over that range, and with a North Pacific sea breeze blowing the temperature plummeted by 30 deg!  Quite refreshing.

We are staying in an area of San Diego called Bonita.  We chose it because there is a regional park here where you can stay for only $34 a night yet you get a huge campsite and its out in a country setting yet you are only 20 minutes by car from downtown San Diego.

The campsite in Bonita reminds us of McKenzie country.  It’s very nice being up a hill and having a wide view.
